“What do I need to send back to get my core refund?”

Our goal with this program is twofold.

  1. To supply you with a 100% reliable and maintenance free locked differential, so you can get maximum laps with your friends.

  2. To get a differential carrier returned to us that matches the one we shipped, allowing us to prepare, weld and ship to a fellow drifter in the future.

Please read this page in it’s entirety to familiarize yourself with our core program. All the guidelines here are common sense and should be easy to understand. We’re happy to answer any questions you may have.

Get Your Core Charge Back

When you purchase an exchange differential from WeldedDiff.com, a refundable core charge is collected with your order. After installing your welded differential carrier, return your eligible original differential carrier to us. Once we receive and inspect your core, we’ll refund the applicable core charge.

The exact differential carrier that needs to be returned needs to match the differential carrier you originally purchased.

  • In general, an acceptable core needs to meet the following conditions:

    1. Match the vehicle or differential application specified for your purchase.

    2. Be structurally sound and weldable differential core.

    3. Have an undamaged carrier.

    4. Have usable mounting, bearing and ring gear surfaces.

    5. Be free from major cracks or catastrophic internal damage.

    6. Not previously welded. We don’t accept carriers that have previously been welded in any way.

    Normal wear is expected. Your core does not need to look new. We do appreciate you cleaning it as nicely as you can.

    Generally Acceptable

    • Normal used differential carriers

    • Dirty or greasy differential carriers

    • Surface rust

    • Normal gear wear

    • Worn factory limited-slip components (where applicable)

    • Open differential carriers

    • Factory VLSD carriers (where applicable)

    • Differentials removed from working or project vehicles

    Core requirements can vary by product. If there are more specific requirements for your differential spec, the product page will identify the specific differential carrier that must be returned.

  • Cores may be rejected or receive a reduced core refund if they have:

    • Cracked differential carriers

    • Broken or missing major internal components

    • Severe gear or carrier damage

    • Damaged bearing surfaces

    • Damaged ring gear mounting surfaces

    • Significant fire damage

    • Severe corrosion that makes the carrier unusable

    • Previous modifications that prevent the carrier from being reused

    • Incorrect components for the differential purchased

    • Previously welded differentials.

  • We only want the differential carrier returned to us. If you ship the entire pumpkin to us, you’re going to be wasting your own money on shipping.

  • We require your core to be delivered back to us within 30 calendar days of the delivery of your purchase. We may choose to return the core fee for timelines beyond 30 days, but this is up to our discretion.

  • Core Inspection & Refund

    Once your core arrives:

    1. We identify it
    We match the returned differential to your order.

    2. We inspect it
    We verify that the required components are present and suitable for reuse.

    3. We approve the core
    If everything meets the requirements, the full applicable core charge is approved for refund.

    4. We issue your refund
    The core refund is returned using your applicable refund method.

    Core returns are inspected within 2 business days of delivery.

  • If we find a problem that may prevent your core from qualifying for a full refund, we'll contact you before making a final determination whenever practical. We may request photographs, provide details about the issue or discuss available options with you.

    Potential options we’ll discuss are as follows:

    • Partial core credit

    • No credit

    • Customer-paid return of rejected cores

    • Disposal/recycling of rejected cores
